Cadence's Castle Documentary

Growing up in the Midwest, Cady Juarez aspired to make a story that focused on the struggles of living with gay parents in a conservative state. Cadence's Castle came from the memories and experiences of Cady's mothers--Amanda and Jacquie--as well as her own. At first, the documentary seemed to focus solely on the story of Cadence and how Cadence's Castle came to be, but as the interview continued, a new story emerged. In a society where being LGBT was considered taboo, two mothers struggled to accept themselves and the roles they played in their children's lives. They struggled with family members as well as their own community. Together, the two women discovered their own identity through personal struggles, and became the very backbone behind the events of Cadence's Castle. This is their story.
